Meet, Emily Ash
Emily is the founder of the Blu Hippo Studio, a children’s art studio devoted to joyful, process-based creativity. Emily designs engaging art classes that encourage experimentation, confidence, and self-expression in young artists. At Blu Hippo Studio, children are invited to explore materials, take creative risks, and discover that art is about the journey—not perfection.
The Blu Hippo Story
Blu Hippo began with a love for an animal that feels a little magical—soft, funny, mysterious, and full of personality. When I discovered ancient Egyptian blue hippos, I was instantly enchanted. These tiny sculptures felt like secret treasures from long ago.
When I learned one lived at the Met in New York City (where I live), we created our own blue hippos and went on an art adventure to find it. I even found another blue hippo at the Louvre in Paris in the fall of 2024!
Now, the blue hippo is out studio’s symbol—a reminder to stay curious, chase wonder, and treat curiosity like an adventure. One day, I hope to visit every blue hippo in the world.
